Cellulite Treatment with Endermologie ® What is Cellulite? Cellulite or "orange skin" is often falsely called cellulitis. Thorough studies, conducted at John Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, have shown that only fat (and not water and waste products as was previously thought) causes cellulite. Typical cellulite is characterized by a very undesirable "dimpled" appearance of the skin. Cellulite develops because of fatty deposits in the connective tissues. The full-to-bursting fat cells grow so much that they distort the form of the cell walls. Like bunches of grapes, the fat cells clump together between the connective tissues and bulge out.
